Oh, The Scots?

Oh,  the Scots what to understand?!?
Do you really know what you truly want?!?
Heard your cry and plea
the was , the now, and  the eternity
Shall we count sands of angst to quell
the bitter thistles of tears that fell
or summon the elements of spilt blood
for  one and all to even the odds?!?

Oh, the Scots why now and why ever?!?
Can you not with your heart forswear
or was ancient drama so sweet so bitter
a savored play to divide and sever
Was it for true freedom or plain money
perhaps both I surmised to agree
Be careful of guised patriotistic sentimentality
a fabric so weak for life's tartan reality

Elusive unicorn is but truly a phantom
the key to let ancient serpent storm
Usurping Brave Heart's past
believing it to be a moral compass
to anchor rights of old  
welding it to bake in modern mold
Take heed the're thistles to undone
what's been done and undone

Oh, the Scots will you aspire  to forge
Forge a model to transcend  I urge
Unite to work not only for Scotland
but for the whole kingdom you must band
cease dressing and undressing wounds deep
nursing maggots of anger to keep
A "No" vote is not a  true defeat
But a new dawn with challenges you must meet
